The older terraced and semi-detached properties along Carter Street and the village centre were mostly built with timber eaves boards that have now reached the end of their serviceable life. Where paint is peeling, wood feels soft underfoot when probed, or you can see gaps between the fascia and the roof tiles, water is almost certainly getting into the rafters. We remove the old boards, treat any affected timberwork, and fit low-maintenance uPVC fascias and soffits that won't need repainting every few years.
Fordham also has a number of larger detached properties with more complex rooflines — hips, valleys and extended garages — where guttering runs are longer and bracket spacing is critical to avoid ponding.
