Newmarket's mix of racing industry housing, Victorian townhouses and newer estates gives us a wide variety of chimney stack types to work with — and we rebuild all of them to a standard that lasts.
The streets closest to Newmarket's famous High Street and the Rowley Mile include some substantial Victorian and Edwardian properties, many with tall ornate stacks that were built to impress as much as to function. These older stacks often have deteriorated lime joints that have been patched with cement at some point — a common but damaging practice that traps moisture behind a hard outer layer. Proper rebuilding means stripping back to sound brickwork and starting again with the right mix.
Further out, the newer housing around the Guineas development and the stable yard cottages off the Cambridge Road have more modern but equally variable chimney construction. We survey every stack before quoting and will tell you honestly whether a repair will hold or whether a rebuild is the only sensible option — we're not interested in call-backs.
